  • IT'S A GIRL!!

Well we went to the doctor yesterday and found out that we are having a girl.  We are really happy and excited!  Everything on the ultrasound looks good. They checked everything except the mouth and lips, she kept burring her chin in her chest so they could not get a good look at them.  It is becoming more of a reality now that we have seen what looks more and more like a baby .

Here is a picture of Emily putting up our christmas tree.

Em is really doing so well with our little baby, she has not been sick at all.  It has really been business as usual. I am so proud of her and happy that now I will have two beautiful girls in my life.

  • New Job

Well Emily broke the news that I got a new job.  I am really excited and a little scared, it is going to be a a lot of work.  I have to pass the ground school.  I start ground school on the 7th of Jan and it lasts for 8 weeks.  So I will be in St Louis for 8 weeks and try to come home as much as I can, maybe once or twice.  Then after that we are going to see how the commute works out from Salt Lake.  After Emily has the baby we will decide if commuting is good or if we will need to move.

Here is a  pic of the aircraft that I will be flying. They hold 50 passengers.

While I am at it I better give you a baby update. Emily is now 17 weeks along. We do not yet know if it is a boy or a girl we think that we are going to find out some time in the middle of Dec.  Just this past week Emily noticed that she could feel the baby moving a little bit.  We are really excited for our new little baby.  We will keep you posted more.

  • Hooray!

Travis interviewed with TSA today and was offered a position!! He'll be starting ground school in January and will be in St. Louis for 8 weeks training. We are so excited for this opportunity for Travis to officially start his career. We'll continue to keep you posted.

P.S. Eight weeks is a long time to be home alone, so if anyone wants to call, write, email, or better yet, come visit . . . I would love the company!!

  • OH BABY!!

We are so excited to announce that we are having a baby!  The baby should arrive at the end of April just before our three-year anniversary.  Sorry we couldn't call everyone, we wish we had more time to do so.

Here is a little picture of the ultrasound, of course we do not yet know if it is a boy or a girl. We will keep you all up to date as the months go by.

  • This summer has been a lot of fun. Travis has been flying a lot and almost has the hours needed to put in applications with some small airlines. We are so excited for him to get a "real" job, especially since we'll have airline benefits. That means we'll be coming to visit a lot more often. Here's a picture of Travis flying the TwinStar with his friend Jay.

On the Fourth of July we watched fireworks with Denene & McKay on the grass in front to the Provo Temple. We had a nice view of the Stadium of Fire display coming from the BYU football stadium.
Here we are before the show started.

This August I went to girls camp with my ward. I'm not in Young Women, but a lot of the regular leaders are pregnant or have children so they were not able to go. I was excited because I only went once when I was in Young Women. It was beautiful to be at about 10,000 feet and surrounded by Aspen trees. We were the last stake to go up this summer, so there was a water shortage. We ended up having to haul water to the bathrooms so we could flush the toilets. Because we had to haul all the water, the stake leadership asked us to not flush every time we went, unless it was "brown." They had a nice little rhyme for us to say so we could remember: "If it's yellow, let it mellow; if it's brown, flush it down." Nice, huh? It was a lot of fun despite the bathroom issues.
The good part about it was we got to stay in these cute little A-frame cabins.

That's all I have as far as pictures go. It seems like I would have more to say since it has been so long since my last update...but I don't.

  • We are finally back from two weeks of vacation. The first week we were in Wyoming on the Pioneer Trek. It was a lot of fun and well worth it, but we were so happy to be home after four days in the heat, dirt and wearing Pioneer clothes. On the Trek the only thing you could see for miles was sage brush and dirt. It was refreshing when we crossed the river and also when we were able to sneak away from camp to put our feet in a nearby stream (which we got in "trouble" for doing).

Here is Travis and I with our "baby." Her name was Elizabeth, but we called her La-fawn-dah

Here we are pulling the handcart.

I'm not really sure what Travis is doing here...looks like the Robot.

Here is our Trek family at a fireside.

This is our family the morning we are going home. We were looking pretty rough by day 4, but it was a lot of fun.

We got home Friday evening and had to unpack, do laundry, then re-pack. We left the next morning for Portland for Jamie's wedding and to visit family.
Here is Jamie and Sterling at the reception.

We went to dinner with Bryce and Dawna, Sarah, Noah, Bradley, Jamie, Sterling, Travis and me. Here are some of us outside Rose's Resturant

This was the first time we got to see Sarah's baby in person (and he's 9 months old). He's so cute and has such a funny personality.

Our last day in town we had a BBQ at Hannah and Darwin's house. It was so much fun to see everyone and catch up. Hannah is due in just a couple of months (another girl!)

We also got to meet our new nieces, Jaya and Sierra. I'm not really sure why I don't have any pictures. They are adorable too! I'll have to get those pics from my brother.

Our trip was a lot of fun and we wish we could have stayed longer. We hope someday we will end up in Portland or the area, but it all depends on where jobs are available for Travis. Right now Travis is concentrating on getting the hours needed to apply for a job this fall. If he gets hired, we'll most likely move to Houston, Austin, LA, or New Jersey next summer.

  •  Emily and I went and flew to Salt Lake the other night with some friends of ours, Jay and Emily.  Here is a little video of downtown. We took an airplane that has a glass cockpit (that means that all the instruments are on a plasma screen).

  • I know it's been a while since my last entry, but I have some great pictures of Travis' graduation in April and also of his Memorial Day weekend trip from SLC to Seattle, to Portland, to California and then back home.

We got new sleeping bags for the Trek later this month...I just thought I would try mine out. Yep, it works! (By-the-way, I fell asleep about 15 minutes later in my bag!)

    Now for Travis' trip....

Travis and his friend Jay, along with another instructor and three students, took three planes to Washington. This picture was taken by Travis and I think it is of Jay and his student. The plane is a Diamond Star and it has a glass cockpit (that means the instruments are all digital on a computer screen).

They made it to Seattle then went on a tour of the Boeing factory. Here's Travis next to a jet engine.

They flew IFR in the clouds...this is a very cool thing if you are a new pilot. Look carefully you can see the wing of the plane.
